How we make games fair

Where each result comes from, what the paytables show and why every round waits for your press.

Fairness is easy to claim and harder to show, so this note sets out exactly how a round at the Bureau is decided. Nothing here is secret. The longer version lives on How games work, and you are welcome to hold us to it.

Every result starts with a random number, and that number comes from your own browser. Modern browsers include a cryptographically secure random number generator, the same kind of source used for security keys. Our games ask it for a fresh number each time they need one: to stop a reel, deal a card, roll the dice or send a capsule down the pneumatic tubes. Results are not drawn in advance, and no earlier round decides a later one.

Each game publishes its paytable before you play. You can see what every symbol, cluster, segment or call is worth in Stamps, and how features such as sticky wilds or a climbing multiplier work. When a result returns less than you staked, the game says so plainly, for example back 5 of 10, rather than dressing it up as a success.

A round starts only when you press. There is no autoplay and no turbo: bonus spins, bonus drops and every card in Hi-Lo Express each wait for you. We think a game should go at the speed of the person playing it, and that pausing should always be the easiest thing on the screen.

Your clearance level has no say in any of this. The loyalty boost applies to Mailroom rewards only and never touches game maths. Neither does your balance, how long you have been playing or whether you are a member or a guest. Everyone gets the same rules on the same table.

Finally, the part that matters most. Stamps and practice credits have no cash value, are never sold and cannot be exchanged for anything. The Bureau is a place to play for fun, for adults aged 18 and over, with no real money and no in-app purchases. Playing here, or doing well here, does not imply future success at real-money gambling. If you have questions about any of this, our help pages are the place to start.

Gaming Bureau is a free-to-play social casino for adults in the UK. For entertainment only: no real money, no in-app purchases, and Stamps have no cash value.
